Microdium Singapore Pte Ltd has announced its partnership with MLTEK Software, a File Archiving Solution provider based in UK.
File systems for all companies continue to grow in size at an ever increasing rate and the cost of expensive primary Storage has exploded. This has resulted in many companies that are struggling with bloated file servers that contain old files which are only periodically if ever accessed.
ArchiverFS tackles the issue of stale date in a completely unique way, it is entirely file system based in that it does not store file metadata (or files) in a database of any kind. This massively lowers the Total Cost of Ownership and makes structured file lifecycle management accessible to even smaller businesses, whilst saving larger organisations a fortune on licensing costs and supporting infrastructure.
Archiving old files to lower cost storage media that could be in the Cloud or on Premise is an item on the to-do list of most businesses.
Archiving itself is the process by which inactive information, in any format, is securely stored for long periods of time. Such information may – or may not – be used again in the future, but nonetheless should be stored until the end of its retention schedule. Archived data can be stored in a number of different formats, on a variety of devices.
In an ideal world even once archived inactive data should still be directly accessible for the end user, as the implication of not being able to access information again sometimes dissuades businesses from archiving their records. Information should still be readily available if required at short notice, and this is exactly what ArchiverFS provides for network file systems.
When businesses archive data they tend to archive entire collections of files. The word archive in itself suggests the retention of multiple records. Data that is archived might need to be because of legal rulings or because it is vital information that is likely to be used again in the future.
