We are pleased to announce the availability of version 2.21 of Cloud, Agent, Vault, and AD Connector. This release focuses on Cibecs Endpoint Cloud’s performance and stability improvements, significant performance optimizations for the backup, restore and Full Remote Migration of large sets of small files as well as new disaster recovery capabilities for Private Cloud Vaults to aid DR administrators.

We have optimized the Device Sidebar look-ups under the Inventory and Protection screens as well as when extending the device view from the Sidebar. To ensure a more stable experience when using Endpoint Cloud, improvements were made to the handling of incoming Agent Heartbeat and Backup events.

Private Cloud Vaults now execute scheduled live backups of the configuration database (The default is daily at 2am). This enables third-party server backup solutions to back up the configuration without requiring the Vault to be stopped in order to maintain database integrity. Protection Agent backup alerts have also been added to the Windows tray notifications to notify users of successful or failed backups. The backup policy can enable or disable this option.

This release also includes other improvements to Full Remote Migration, proxy, and websockets.

Feature

• The end-user is now notified via the Windows tray notifications when their backup completed, and if it was successful or failed. This setting may be enabled or disabled via the policy. NOTE: This requires version 2.21 or future versions of the Protection Agent. Previous agents will not support this feature and will require upgrade.
• Private Cloud Vaults now execute scheduled live backups of the configuration database. By default, the backup will be performed daily at 2am every day of the week and will retain backups for 14 days. This is configurable via the properties file.
• For the On-Premise applications, Vault, Connector, and Agent, we have included an option to disable proxy auto-detection. This permits administrators to override direct connection attempts and force the proxy settings instead.
• On startup, the Vault will request device assignments to ensure that all devices are reassigned following a disaster recovery scenario.

• The Full Remote Migration feature has been improved to make it more resilient in instances where File or Folder access is blocked.
• Detection and removal of duplicate heartbeats sent by the Discovery and Protection Agents has been implemented. This improves Endpoint Cloud stability and performance.
• Detection and removal of duplicate backup events sent by the Protection Agents has been implemented. This improves Endpoint Cloud stability and performance.
• The Device Sidebar and Device View look-ups under the Inventory and Protection screens have been optimized.
• Optimizations of backup and restore of large sets of files:
  • Backup performance improvement for very large file sets with small files.
  • Significant performance improvements to our backup indexing process.
  • Optimized the Agent’s File Watcher to support adding or changing large amounts of files without having to reindex.
  • Memory and restore efficiency optimizations during the backup and restore process.
• Full Remote Migration Large File Set Optimizations:
  • 10x+ speed improvement of very large migration sets with small files.
  • Changed our In-memory index to a disk index for Full Remote Migration to support very large data sets with minimal memory requirements.
  • Implemented batch transferring of small files to significantly reduce transfer time for larger sets with small files.

Bugfix

• The device list and device sidebar did not automatically update when renaming a team on the Inventory or Protection screens. The issue has now been fixed.
• When switching between devices, the Operating System displayed in the Sidebar for the device did not change. The issue has now been fixed.
• Fixed a bug that prevented email reports being sent for newly created tenants. (Please allow 24hrs after the v2.21 release for the reports to be correctly generated and sent.)
• Fixed an issue that could result in recipients receiving several duplicate email reports.
